Product Description

Learn how to photograph your products

In 1982 I joined a large commercial advertising studio and trained as a still-life and fine art photographer and have shot thousands of products for companies, magazines and advertising campaigns. All images of products shown in this section are a practical example of what can be realistically achieved with a little help from me.

Save money and time

The reason why people choose to shoot their own products is to save hundreds or thousands on pounds especially if you have a small business or a high turnover of different products where it’s not practical to hire a photographer. The average going rate for a simple product shot is £25 based on 2017 prices and more for multiple items. You will occur extra charges for less than ten product shots, retouching and resizing the images for brochures, leaflets and the internet.

This is where I can help

I can show you how to arrange and shoot simple products using an iPad or smartphone with one light and a reflector for an internet business, to a professional set-up using DSLR’s and pro-lighting, or train personnel for an existing or new in-house photography studio. Click here for more information

Hugh is a true professional, he really knows his stuff. Every question I fired at him he not only answered in detail but showed examples of work and diagrams to make it easy to understand. I have been on several photography courses to further my knowledge, but I have learnt more in one day on Hugh’s course than all the others put together! I would thougherly recommend. Excellent.

“I have known Hugh for about 15 years in total, and have no hesitation in recommending him to others. Over this time, I have continued to book Hugh on a regular basis on behalf of my clients because he is totally reliable – he is very personable, accommodating and responsive with the clients; and, of course, he does a very good job! He produces consistently good results – often under pressure; the clients are always pleased with the end product, and are confident that it represents value for money.”

It’s going great! After the photography course with you and the Photoshop training. I feel like I actually know what I’m doing.

I have just returned from my break and whilst a little tardy (apologies) wanted to say thank you for the training course that you ran. Kim and I both found it exceedingly informative and whilst we probably will never make David Bailey levels it will go to help us move things forward.
